About this game

What Rune Memory Match is about

Rune Memory Match is a small browser game where you flip cards two at a time and try to match every pair of rune symbols. The board has sixteen cards in total, which means eight pairs and a clear-time goal that fits inside a short break.

The game is intentionally calm. There are no timers and no penalties for mistakes. The only score is the number of moves it takes to clear the board, so it rewards players who slow down, look at the symbols, and remember positions instead of clicking on instinct.

How to play

Step-by-step rules

Start a new game

Press New game to shuffle the deck. All sixteen cards are face down at the start of a round.

Flip two cards

Click any face-down card to reveal its rune. Click a second card to compare. The pair stays open if the runes match.

Remember the misses

When two flipped cards do not match they flip back. The trick is to remember which symbol was at which position so you can match it later.

Clear all eight pairs

Match all eight rune pairs to finish the round. Your move counter is the score. Lower is better.

Tips

How to actually get better at Rune Memory

Open new cards before chasing matches

Early in a round, every flip is an opportunity to learn the board. If you have no matches in memory, prioritise revealing unseen cards over re-checking known ones.

Pair the cards you just learned

Once you have flipped a card and seen its rune, the cheapest match is usually a follow-up that combines the known card with a guess on a still-hidden tile.

Use a left-to-right scan

A consistent reading order gives your memory a structure. Most players match more quickly when they scan the board the same way each time.

Why this game is here

The link to Catch the King and Metin2 events

RPG event boards, including Metin2 Catch the King, reward players for remembering which positions on the board hold which information. Rune Memory Match is a low-stakes way to train that same pattern without consuming event tokens.

FAQ

Common questions about Rune Memory Match

What is the goal of Rune Memory Match?

Match every pair of rune symbols on the board using as few moves as possible. The fewer the moves, the better the score.

Is there a time limit?

No. The game uses moves instead of seconds, so you can take your time and focus on accuracy.

Does the board change between rounds?

Yes. Every New game press shuffles the deck, so the same rune is unlikely to be in the same place twice.

How is this related to Metin2?

Catch the King and other Metin2 event boards reward memory of revealed card positions. This game trains that habit on a smaller, calmer board.
